Bacospore® is a probiotic preparation containing the Gram-positive, lactic acid-producing bacterium Heyndrickxia coagulans, commonly known as Bacillus coagulans. The organism is rod-shaped, catalase-positive, facultatively anaerobic and capable of forming highly resistant endospores.
The Bacospore® strain has been deposited with the Microbial Type Culture Collection and Gene Bank, India, as MTCC 25308, and with the American Type Culture Collection as PTA-126364, providing strain-level identification and traceability.
Bacospore® is standardized by viable spore count rather than by a botanical marker. The documented Bacospore® 300B grade provides not less than 300 billion viable spores per gram and uses tapioca-derived maltodextrin as the excipient.

The Bacospore® 300B specification also establishes limits for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, plus limits for yeast and mould, Salmonella, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Its spore-forming nature, water solubility and high viable count provide formulation flexibility. Compatibility, processing survival and viable count through end of shelf life should be validated in the finished product.
